Everything you need to know about using Nommie

Getting Started

Nommie is an AI-powered nutrition tracking app that makes calorie and macro tracking effortless. Simply snap a photo of your food or describe it in natural language, and our AI handles the rest — identifying the food, estimating portions, and logging the nutritional data for you.

Download the Nommie app from the App Store or Google Play, then tap "Get Started." You can sign up with your email address or continue with Apple or Google. You'll be guided through a quick onboarding to set your calorie and macro goals.

Yes! Nommie offers a generous free tier that includes 5 AI photo scans per day, manual food logging, daily calorie tracking, basic macro breakdown, and access to our AI nutritionist chat. You can upgrade to Nommie Pro for unlimited scans and advanced features.

Nommie is available on iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android. You can also access your data and log meals through the web app at nommie.app.

Photo Scanning

Point your camera at your meal and tap the scan button. Our AI model analyzes the image to identify each food item, estimate portion sizes, and calculate calories, protein, carbs, and fat. Results appear in seconds — review them, adjust if needed, and confirm to log.

Our AI is highly accurate for common meals and packaged foods, typically within 10-15% of actual nutritional values. Accuracy improves over time as you provide feedback. For the best results, ensure good lighting and capture the full plate. You can always adjust quantities manually after scanning.

Absolutely. You can either photograph the nutrition label or use barcode scanning (available on Pro) to instantly pull exact nutritional data from our database of over 2 million products.

You can edit any logged meal. Tap on the entry, adjust the food items or quantities, and save. Your corrections also help our AI improve over time. If a food isn't recognized, you can describe it in natural language and our AI will estimate the nutrition.

AI Features

Nommie includes an AI nutritionist you can chat with anytime. Ask questions like "Am I getting enough protein?" or "What should I eat for dinner to stay under my calorie goal?" and get personalized advice based on your tracked data and goals.

Yes! Just type what you ate in natural language — for example, "two eggs, toast with butter, and a glass of orange juice." Our AI parses the description and logs each item with estimated nutritional values.

The AI adapts to your eating patterns over time. It can suggest frequently eaten meals for quick logging, provide insights about your nutritional trends, and offer increasingly personalized recommendations as you use the app.

Account & Profile

Go to Settings > Goals in the app. You can adjust your daily calorie target, macro ratios (protein, carbs, fat), and dietary preferences at any time. Nommie can also suggest goals based on your age, weight, height, and activity level.

Pro subscribers can export their complete food log and nutrition data as a CSV file. Go to Settings > Export Data. This is useful for sharing with a dietitian or healthcare provider.

Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This will permanently delete your account and all associated data within 30 days. You can also email support@nommie.ai to request account deletion.

Subscription & Billing

Nommie Pro ($9.99/month) gives you unlimited AI photo scans, detailed macro and micronutrient breakdowns, custom meal plans, priority AI responses, barcode scanning, weekly nutrition reports, and data export capabilities.

Yes, you can cancel your Pro subscription at any time. You'll continue to have access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account will revert to the free tier.

Subscriptions purchased through the App Store or Google Play are managed by Apple and Google respectively. Please contact their support for refund requests. For web subscriptions, contact us at support@nommie.ai within 7 days of purchase.

Privacy & Data

Yes. Your nutrition data is private by default. We use it only to provide you with the Nommie service and to improve our AI models. We never sell your personal data to third parties. When you use the photo scan feature, your food photos are sent to Google's Gemini AI for analysis — you'll be asked for permission before this happens. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

When you use photo scanning, your food photo is sent to Google's Gemini AI service for real-time nutritional analysis. Photos are not permanently stored on our servers after analysis is complete. Only the resulting nutritional data is saved to your account.

Only your food photo is sent to Google's Gemini AI when you use the photo scan feature. No personal information such as your name, email, account details, or health data is included. You must consent before any photos are sent, and you can withdraw consent at any time in Settings.

Your data is stored securely on servers in the United States, protected by encryption at rest and in transit. We use Supabase as our database provider, which maintains SOC 2 Type II compliance.
